Currie Group New Zealand has appointed Shea Lees-Thomas as business development manager, further strengthening its local presence and support capabilities across the New Zealand print and sign industry.
Based in Auckland, Shea joins Currie Group with experience spanning wide format hardware, consumables, applications and business development, bringing a customer-focused approach shaped by both the print and technology sectors.
Craig Paul, country manager at Currie Group New Zealand, says the appointment reflects Currie Group’s continued investment in supporting customers across the region.
“Shea brings a strong mix of industry knowledge, commercial understanding and customer experience to the role,” says Paul.
“He understands the importance of helping businesses not only invest in technology, but also maximise the value they get from it. That aligns closely with how we work at Currie Group.”
Starting his career in the print industry in 2016, Shea quickly developed an interest in the wide format sector and the broad range of applications and opportunities it offers.
“I really enjoyed working with different hardware technologies and seeing how businesses could apply them in practical ways,” says Shea.
“That naturally expanded into consumables, workflows and understanding how businesses could become more efficient and productive.”
In 2021, Shea relocated to the United Kingdom, where he worked within the financial software sector for a Fortune 500 company, supporting businesses with operational and commercial growth.
“It gave me a broader understanding of how businesses operate and the pressures they face day to day,” he says.
“I enjoy helping businesses improve processes, work smarter and position themselves for growth. Returning to New Zealand and joining Currie Group felt like a natural fit because of the company’s strong reputation, broad portfolio and customer-first approach.”
Currie Group represents a portfolio of best-in-class solutions and service across wide format, commercial print, labels and packaging, finishing and consumables, supporting customers with technologies, workflow expertise and local industry support.
Paul says Shea’s appointment comes at a time when many businesses are actively reassessing production workflows, automation and application opportunities.
“The industry continues to evolve quickly, and customers are looking for partners who can support them strategically, not simply supply equipment,” he says.
“Shea’s background across technology, applications and business systems adds another dimension to the conversations we can have with customers.”
Next month, Shea will join Paul Whitehead and Craig Paul on the Currie Group stand at the 2026 Sign + Print Expo at Auckland Showgrounds.
“It will be a great opportunity to connect with customers and the wider industry,” says Shea.
“There’s strong momentum across the New Zealand market, particularly from businesses looking to diversify applications, improve turnaround times and create new opportunities. I’m looking forward to being part of those conversations.”
